2. Furby's correct but they'll give the answer as Lactose
3. Winifred Atwell at a guess - in one of the other Grauniad quizzes this week she was named as the biggest selling artist of the first half of the 50s.

7/8, well done!

Ivanhoe was read to my class of very average 8-10 year olds at my (very poor) prep school by our wonderful old-lady teacher, Mrs Cottam. She read so well that we were all enthralled. We could hardly wait till Friday afternoons! I can't imagine this being tried in a primary school these days. Everything's been dumbed down and we don't believe young kids capable of concentrating/understanding something like Scott.

1 Iceberg.
2 Lactose.
3 Winifred Atwell (Let’s Have Another Party).
4 Teaching of evolution.
5 Ceres.
6 George Bush Sr.
7 Ivanhoe (Walter Scott).
8 Large language model.
