Midge 1 caught a kingfisher and brought it indoors - he let it go after it pecked him above the eye and when I arrived home the kingfisher was angrily tapping at the kitchen window with its beak, wanting to be let out - a command which I duly heeded.

Here's guilty old Midge.

Like the late Chaircat Midge, I am not always right.

Does the duck use its beak as a shovel or just for decoration. Its not very pretty.

I've watched them with their bill under water moving it from side to side. I think they sieve nutrients in that way. They look comical to me rather than ugly, and their feathers are quite beautiful.
