Knitted cacti

Post by NicoleEclectic »

Hello friends!

So I knitted 3 cacti this week. It takes me very little time to knit these, I've found, and better still, they're fun. I thought I'd post photos of the 3 different types, and then if anyone is interested, I'd be happy to make and send one to you.

Also, if you believe one ought to be the official Mill Cactus, feel free to adopt it as your mascot. :D

(The flowers are all made exactly the same way--I just adjusted the colors, though I could conceivably knit the flowers in lots of different colors.)

Here they are--hopefully my attempt to post photos works...

Nicole!

BTW my daughter is named Nicole, I love that name :D The cacti are absolutely adorable! The first one is my favorite. Are they knitted or crocheted (my Nicole likes to crochet)?

Hi Nicole,

I would absolutely adore one of these (the middle one for preference, but they're all lovely.)

Is there anything you're collecting that we could send you as thanks?

Daisy

PS: I'm a long way away from everyone, so please let me postage costs, and I'll reimburse etc.

Hi Colleen! I happen to love that name too, hee hee. :)

These are all knitted. My older kiddo prefers to crochet. I like to crochet granny squares, and occasionally borders on blankets, but aside from that I'm definitely a knitter. :D Thank you!

Oh, yes, I think you're right, Autumn! I'll get my husband to take a better photo (these were all taken with my cell phone, and while they're acceptable, my Eric is an amazing photographer and could get a really good one)--then I'll post it and you can use it however you want!

And I agree, that photo is gorgeous (and it really does look like John is gazing lovingly at the cactus :love )

Aw, yay Daisy! Thank you!

I think I'll just be collecting postage costs. These are so much fun to make, and it'll be a joy to share them--it would feel almost like theft to collect anything else, lol.

Absolutely, Diana!

So here's the cacti pattern--all 3 cactus variations are included.
https://www.garnstudio.com/pattern.php?id=8215&cid=17

And then the flower pattern (which I'm going to use a LOT more often, it's stupid easy, lol):

(I didn't use the buttons in the center--I just did a few embroidery-type stitches in the center with a contrasting color of yarn)

Nope, no problem at all! :) Thank you!

Um... YES PLEASE!! :eek :love

Okay, so here's how we'll do this to be all organized:

1) If you want a cactus, send me a PM (I think those are possible here, right? I see the little inbox in the upper right corner) and let me know which one you want and what your address is.

2) I'll knit the cacti, probably starting with whoever is furthest away from me (for reference, I live in the US, in the great *cough* state of Oklahoma :smug ) . I can send you a little terra cotta pot for the cactus too (I just bought a bunch of them at Hobby Lobby yesterday in anticipation of just such a project :D )

3) If you'd like to pay my shipping costs, that would be fantastic--I have a PayPal account and you can send me money that way. If shipping costs are too much, no worries, I can handle it. (And Pippa, you are more than welcome to send those John Thornton stickers, or anything else you'd like, in lieu of shipping costs. ;) )

Hee, I'm all excited now. This is going to be such fun! :)

Here are some "pretty photos" of the cacti taken by my husband. (I've got the one Autumn said is most like Cactus from her story by itself, just in case anyone wants to use it for any sort of graphic. :D )
