Joking about getting breathalysed is very politically incorrect these days. When he sang that song it was considered laddish behaviour and just an unfortunate occurrence if you got caught but he wouldn't get away with it now. I went to one of his appearances in the 70s when he sang that song. It was part of a folk festival held in a marquee in fields adjacent to the Portcullis pub at Hanham Mills on the banks of the River Avon. The basist of the band I was in rented out its PA system for the gig so I was enabled to sneak in as temporary assistant sound engineer. He did a pretty good impression of being drunk while singing the song, then immediately sobered up afterwards. I was impressed.
