UK postal service to abroad

Post by merry »

I've sent five things lately by Royal Mail which have not arrived, to USA, Latvia, and somewhere else I've forgotten and they just never got there. The first batch was sent a full two months ago!

Some admittedly were postcards, which traditionally the RM seemed to think it could 'lose' en route but I had put them in envelopes for that reason.

Royal Mail Incident Report Update

OK I get that services were suspended and still are in some cases. But to actually lose items?

When there's a backlog they always do the new work first. I don't know for sure and have proof etc only from working somewhere we sent a very lot of stuff out. Often we had to replace things as not turned up and replacements got there before originals sometimes turned up much later. I would suspect if they think it might only be Xmas cards etc they just stick it in confidential waste shredding if you are lucky and general waste if not but that's just me being suspiciious.

Honestly I think they have been shredded. :cry

They were lovely Winchcombe snow postcards too. From the meteorite museum.

The royal mail is getting reported to the regulator for not doing their jobs delivering 6 days a week. Didn't see overseas post mentioned but I suppose that's outside UK regulators jobs .

It has got worse recently with the strikes and the systems problems but it's been a long problem for many years in furbyland not receiving post for days on end when one is expecting it. In lockdown they started delivering once a week only if lucky in my town and seem to have continued this process. So it's not just a breach of regulations it's how they run the workplace now as normality and they will probably just pay the fine and have it built into their business model.

Only times I received two posts a week was with a brown HMRC letter and an NHS letter. Maybe they have priority for some posts that they know what's in them. Most of my post is non postmarked business envelope stuff but e.g. a bank or credit card statement you know is late if it's nearly the next month don't you.
