Oh that sounds like a lovely trip. I am back from the UK. I will do a post on some of the N&S locations that I visited in Edinburgh in the next couple of days. Haven't really found the time yet as I'm pretty busy trying to write a summer story for our collection. And yes, I did meet Millers and it was absolutely amazing!!SHBirds wrote: ↑Sun Jul 16, 2023 8:29 amThank you, Tom! It's nice to be back here. But there's just so much to catch up on...
I was in Maastricht for a few days which is, basically, just around the corner from my neck of the woods, and it was indeed lovely. I like visiting the Netherlands; they are so laid back there and it's always a good place to practice speaking some English.
Are you still on your trip in the UK? What places have you seen so far? ... and iirc you've been meeting other Millers! How lovely!

Ohhh that sounds absolutely amazing!!! How lucky to get a free ticket. And for your Birthday of all times. Happy belated Birthday to you. Hong Kong must be stunning. If you have any pictures you would like to share, feel free to do so here. I would love to see some (only if you want to of course!)anywhereis wrote: ↑Sun Jul 16, 2023 3:30 pm Hey, everyone! Just thinking about sharing my first-time solo trip![]()
I went to Hong Kong about two weeks ago. I went there because I got a free round-trip ticket from HK's national airline (to boost their tourism post-Covid, I think). They gave away thousands of free tickets across Southeast Asian countries, and I was one of the lucky ones.
I had a great time, also I got to celebrate my birthday there (which was on Margaret Monday) and now I'm happily back home to get a (proper) first job

Sure! Here are some photos I hope you would enjoy
Here is Hong Kong at 7am. It's pretty breezy in the morning and humid in the afternoon, which perfectly suits my tropical skin
This is a sleeping panda. This is actually in Macao. Too bad I came when it was nap time, I would love to have a hug from a panda
And this is the hotel that I stayed in while I was in Macao. I got lost when I first arrived here. I was going to check-in first, but ended up spending hours in a casino
I'm still at my post-travelling depression phase, knowing that I could not go on a trip for another year or so but my mind is already wild with planning another trip. Hope you all had a great day!

That hotel is unreal! I've not traveled much (but hope to in the future!). You all will come in handy as trip advisors

These pictures look amazing! I bet Japan would be quite a culture shock for my Central European butt. But it would certainly be interesting. I would love to see it for myself sometime. It looks a bit like it's out of a Sci-Fi movie!

Hi guys--I've just posted my first-ever AO3 story. It's the S&S story I've mentioned elsewhere. If any of you are Sense and Sensibility fans, I would love it if you checked it out. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much, guys!!
Btw, what I posted was just the prologue. I don't remember if I mentioned in my Author's Notes that there will be 9 parts total. I'm posting the first chapter on Tuesday, I think, and then I'll be posting a new chapter every Wednesday.
Thanks for your support, it means the world to me!

I hope you don’t mind.
Also hope that thread isn’t exclusive for N&S stories. If it is, sorry, Merry! I have no idea actually, I am rather new to this forum as well.

In case that thread is only for N&S stories, I'll say here that I've just posted Part I to that story.

It is our Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada on Monday. Most people celebrate it on the Sunday so they can do whatever on the Monday. I need all day to cook...and that would be Monday.
I have hosted it for almost every year since I've been married. It is also part one of our anniversary, being that we got married on the T. Monday. Our anniversary is on the 11th, and P has made sure that there were no meetings for him that evening (we'll still have kids playing volleyball and volunteering at the equine.
It seems that as time goes by and family grows (P's siblings having adult children) and some other internal issues, our dinner has decreased its people. So we have our closest (and pretty much like family) friends and possibly a random single if he wants to. My parents aren't driving at night anymore (they've had some scary moments driving home in the dark)...so there it is.
And I don't have the energy for it anymore. But my kids do expect it...lol. But I don't have to go all out any more. And I probably will because the menu doesn't change. Although I don't need as many desserts...And there will be leftovers (which my kids don't care for too much...so it'll be about repurposing...lol.
Anyway, there it is.
All I want to do lately is ignore my world and read fun stories...hahahaha...at some point I have to come back down to earth. Yesterday I finished Georgette Heyer's "The Corinthian". Very amusing. LOL!!
But yes, I have to get to my garage decluttering before it gets too blinking cold outside. I'm too busy this weekend... I have to practice the organ for Sunday afternoon (someone needed to switch).
