Here's Lisa Stoll at the Basel Tattoo in 2018.

The Basel Tattoo was started in 2006 by the Top Secret marching drummers who had been an unexpected hit at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo in 2003; the Basel version is now the second biggest military tattoo in the world in terms of budget and performers and is sponsored by the Swiss department of Defence.

Here's the Top Secret display that started it all.

They have been back a few times - this was in 2022.

Here's Nicolas and his chums the Trio Fontane appropriately kicking off with My Father Is From Appenzell; violinist Noëlle looks completely different in her posh frock compared with her Appenzell folk get-up. The chap playing the cello reminds me a little of the late Vladek Sheybal, probably best known for being on the wrong end of Lotte Lenya's poisoned toecap blade in From Russia With Love.

He was in a lot of things and turned up regularly as a medic in the Gerry Anderson series UFO.

Here's Melanie and her family (apart from her Mum) performing open-air in what looks like a pub beer garden by the castle in Spiez on the Thunersee in Canton Bern. They are within the castle wall by the restaurant/cafe - I think the castle is open to the public.

Here's Franzl Lang at the Flinders Park Stadium in Melbourne, Australia; I think one of the ladies behind him is Herlinde who was in the trio with Angela and Melanie earlier in this thread. He appears 1:10 minutes into the clip.

Here's a short video of a group of Appenzellers from more than 50 years ago having a good time. Some things don't change, like drinks on the tables and people wearing their local costumes like the lady wearing her Appenzeller bonnet.
