Is June Bursting Out All Over?

Post by Patience »

I’m looking forward to the holiday report.

It has been hot in sunny jockoland this land couple of weeks and I am wondering if mozzies have finally made it up here. 😱
I always react to mozzies whilst midges don’t bother me at all.

Yes. Cream and tablets at the ready.
I was also bitted through my leggings. Little buggers.

Nasty insects. I don't know why the SNP didn't get rid of them once they had tax powers to benefit the people of Scotland would have been my first choice. Get well soon to patience.

i missed your question about oven salad Merry but it is essentally what you thought. Cherry tomatoes, red onion, mixed peppers, courgettes and asparagus roasted in chilli oil with a lot of garlic (I used a whole bulb). I also tear up a sousdough loaf into pieces and put it in the oven ten minutes from the end and it absorbs all the vegetable juices and oil and crisps up into really delicious crunchy croutons.

I had a questioin for you Merry (or anyone else). A friend of mine was in the Cotswolds last week and was raving about a little village called Bibury. It seems quite close to Merry Towers so I wondered if Merry or anyone else had been there...

I have been to Bibury, yes!

It is a very pretty, very Cotswold village. Two things I remember about it - a little line of cottages winding up beside a village green, called Arlington Row, they are of some historical significance; and secondly, it has (or had!) a Trout Farm, where you buy a bag of feed and throw it to fish (essentially paying the farm owners to feed their own fish :D They sell fresh trout, smoked trout, etc in the shop alongside. I wasn't that keen on it really. The ponds seemed to be overstocked and the fish had not much room to swim around; still, that's farming for you I guess.

If I were visiting the Cotswolds, I would recommend Broadway, Winchcombe, Stanton and Stanway,. Snowshill and possibly Chipping Campden, as really showcasing the beauties of the area.

Those croutons in with roasted vegetables - sounds delicious!

When does OC get back, does anyone know?
