Liz Truss says she doesn't want to be Prime Minister again. I don't blame her.
Boris Johnson however....

The re shuffle because of Nadim leaving has been announced. The jobs are shuffled rather than ministers sacked.

Grant shapps is the new secretary for energy security so with his experience of running transport dept with ferry companies with no ferries is probably best placed for running energy dept with no energy when supplies run out. Running out of energy was only a worst case risk that didn't happen but now we have effectively given anyone with children or who is disabled unlimited free energy by banning pre payment meters when they don't pay the bills there won't be the cut backs in usage there has been this winter.

I see that Kemi Badenoch is the new Business and Trade Secretary. In these days of internet hacking, ransomware etc she is just the person in Government to lead a security drive to help UK businesses protect themselves against such threats as she herself is very good at hacking into other people's websites and presumably knows how to stop it from happening.

The government is in a pickle isn't it they have ran out of people to appoint that won't have to resign for something at a later date.

Boris isn't doing much these days is he?
OK, he's lazy and feckless but he's good at slogans.

Nadine Dorries has announced she won't be standing in the next General Election, berating her party for ditching Boris Johnson as PM.

Ms Dorries claims to have heard nothing about a possible peerage, and also says that her chum BJ wanted her to remain as an MP.

Jeremy Corbyn will not be selected as a Labour candidate for the next general election. This will no doubt upset many on the left of the party but it signifies that Keir Starmer is serious about making Labour electable.

Nicola Sturgeon is to stand down as SNP leader. This has been widely predicted. When she launched the pointless legal challenge for Indyref2 that was almost certainly going to fail then that would be the opportunity to resign.

The rumour mill regarding Sturgeon's exit is going full stretch on Quora.
Points raised:
The 2021 census was late, being held in 2022, the only UK nation not to manage 2021.
The 2022 census has "irregularities" with claims that it isn't accurate.
The reason has been suggested that Scotland's population decline has accelerated due to net migration.
If the latter is true then the Barnett formula, which is dependent on population, will have to be reduced.

It could all be a load of rubbish. What does our resident Scot, Patience, think?

Its all a bit odd isn't it nobody seems to have been expecting it. And snp have cancelled their conference thing now while they do a new plan.

Nicola said there's always something in politics and denied recent unpopular political events were that something which suggests that there is something else yet to be told.

I think there were so many things that they all combined. There is the Ferry scandal, the SNP finances and the whole Gender Recognition Act. For me, it’s the latter that really did for her, both in terms of the politics and the abuse. Wee Nippy is normally a very adept politician and answers questions well. There were many times with the GRA where she increasingly found that difficult. The situation with the trans rapist being sent to a women’s prison provoked many abusive responses.
I didn’t like her politics, but I do admire her ability and integrity (for politicians these days).
It was time for her to go. Leaders start to get stale after 6 years or so.

I said earlier that it was widely predicted. Judging by the general reaction, apparently it wasn't, but the rumour mill on Quora was pretty active in the months leading up to her announcement. It was thought that she would see through the legal challenge over indyref2 then take the opportunity to stand down when it inevitably failed. That was in November, so maybe the timing was delayed but the rumours were right.

So it was the SNP finances reason then.

Just to clarify - here's a quote from the BBC Scotland political editor, Glenn Campbell.
Nicola Sturgeon gave multiple reasons for her resignation - but the police investigation into her party's finances was not one of them.

When I asked her about it on the day she stood down she declined to comment, but would later insist it had not been a factor.
And from a BBC article:-
In July 2021 Police Scotland launched a formal investigation into the SNP's finances after receiving complaints about how donations were used.

Questions had been raised about funds given to the party for use in a fresh independence referendum campaign.
The point at issue being why did the SNP have only £97k in the bank at the end of 2019 when between 2017 and 2020 they had received £667k in donations for a new independence campaign.

Not to be outdone by Mr Raab's resignation, the Labour whip has been withdrawn from Diane Abbott while her 'draft' letter which appeared on a website is being investigated. It has been reported that, amongst other things, she wrote in her letter that the Jews had never been subject to racism. Since then she has been apologising to anybody who was hurt upset etc by what was in her 'draft' letter, but that isn't enough to stop the withdrawal of the whip.

Ms Abbott has form for racist remarks and peddling a victim agenda. The action is long overdue.
