4 What ubiquitous items are made by De La Rue? Banknotes. They used to make British passports as well, and were very upset when they lost that contract to a French company. I used to have shares in De La Rue but they turned out to be one of my worst investments; the rot had set in when it was discovered that they had falsified quality control documents on secure banknote paper that they had sent to India (though they never admitted which contract had gone sour) and I hung on to the shares for far too long. In retrospect I should have sold my shares when a foreign company thought they were worth taking over and I'd have made a profit - but that's hindsight for you!
