Our favourite Christmas films!

Post by merry »

OK favourite Christmas films anyone?

This year Pani and I have watched:

Muppet Christmas Carol - best Christmas film ever do we think?

Klaus - this is less well-known but an absolutely beautiful little film in every way - I do most thoroughly recommend it if you've never seen it (very suitable for children as well as adults.)

Rise of the Guardians - more 'edge' to it than lovely Klaus but very entertaining

We always watch Arthur's Christmas as near to Christmas as we can - another absolutely perfect little film except I can't stand the wrapping elf but that's because I have no heart :lol

Love Actually! That's my go-to film every year. I love it!!! Hugh Grant's dance moves and Bill Nighy's version of "Love is all around" never get old!

Those films look lovely, Merry! I haven't seen any of them - I need to do that this year!

I like the Home Alone movies, although I kind of grew out of them a bit, and I love Little Lord Fauntleroy! I used to watch that with my granny every year.

The Xmas TV listings are late this year because of the football.

Die Hard. Alan Rickman hams up the villain brilliantly. By all accounts the actor was actually quite a nice guy.

I liked Die Hard a lot.

Patience, Pani and I watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang the other day!

We're watching Polar Express this week some time - a strange one this, but it improves on later viewings.

Yesterday we had Fred Claus, which gets better the more you get into the film.

The ones I've enjoyed most this year have been Arthur Christmas (still), Muppet CC, and Klaus. But I've enjoyed them all.

Oh and Mr Merry and I watched It's a Wonderful Life this week, which is B/W but a nice film if you like old-fashioned.

My husband's family always watched A Christmas Carol on Christmas Eve. It didn't take of in my own family. Not sure which version off the top of my head.

My husband likes Miracle on 34th Street.

We always watch The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe at Christmas.

I have to think on that a bit more.

Another vote for Die Hard and actually also for its sequel which unusually was also a pretty good film. Also think Bad Santa and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation are quite funny. Of the more traditioinal fare I like It's a Wonderful Life although I can't watch the last 5 minutes as I want to punch the TV every time I hear "Every time a bell rings an angel gets his wings"
