Juliet and Sam visit Concorde!

Juliet is a fan of Concorde, which she has recently made a jolly decent Lego model of, and Sam adores Spitfires, so they decided the Imperial War Museum at Duxford would be a good place to spend the day last week!

Lots of information posters, which J found some amusement in:

Jay: The deadpan way these were described made me laugh - to summarise - it couldn't climb, the doors didn't fit, it poisoned the pilots, ot often burst into flames, and the tails often fell off. Sounds great ()

Jay: And this one made me laugh too!! Described like something out of the chuckle brothers!!

Jay: This is a very boaty plane - a seaplane - but I thought they missed a trick not calling seaplanes boaty mcboatplanes, which is what we called them as we went round

Jay: Another deadpan - these were heavily used, but were underpowered and unreliable. (?!)

How nice that they let them go inside the plane. In museums things are usually cruelly roped off and you are expected to just look.

They used to have a Concorde you could walk inside and have a look at in the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton, but I haven't been there for a very long time.

Love Duxford - it's only 15 miles down the road for me so I go every couple of years or so. Some great photos there..looks like they had a lot of fun.

Thanks WR! They have realised there is also a Concorde near Bristol and might visit that one also.
