Where do we all live?
Hello everyone,
I’ve already chatted with a few of you on other threads. I live in the Central Valley of California (in the US). We’re very big on agriculture here. Our county is the largest producer of almonds in the world. We live in the countryside and are surrounded by almond orchards, which is especially pretty when they bloom in February.
We are also the hometown of George Lucas, creator of Star Wars! He also made a move called, American Graffiti, which was based on our town. We celebrate that movie every summer and have festivals and “classic car” shows.
Besides that, it gets extremely hot here in the summer, and we only get mild winters (usually). I added a few photos that I grabbed off the web. The one of the blooming almond trees is the view from our house. There isn’t a whole lot to do in our town, but we are within driving distance (1-2 hours) of a lot of cool things (the beach, the Sierra Nevada mountains, the San Francisco Bay Area).

It is very beautiful, where you come from, Kaybell!! I love almond trees I had a little almond tree once, but either it died or I must have planted it and left it in the garden where I lived at the time. We don't have the best climate for almond trees anyway. The trees near your house must spread a heavenly scent during spring!
So cool that George Lucas comes from your town, Staw Wars is awesome!!

Everyone lives in such interesting places all over the world! This is so fun to browse your photos!
I live in New Hampshire, which is in the northeastern United States. Nothing too special to say about my town, but we have lots of nice parks, trails, and forests around us.
Right now it's winter, so we have snow, ice, and cold. And skiing! (Tip your head for this photo...I can't figure out how to rotate it! ) (Rotated. Merry)
In the summer, we like to drive to the coast, where there are beaches and beautiful towns and harbors on the Atlantic Ocean.

I live in a tropical country so I've never experienced snow in my life. What I would give to make snow angels and make a snowman

and -37? LOL. That's what my city in Canada had last week up until Sunday. I think that everyone should experience that at least once...
But we did have nice temperatures and a brown Christmas. A tropical Christmas makes no sense to me. It's wrong on a number of levels for me.

I've not heard of the "Indian Summer area" before, but I'm guessing yes, that's right, if it means that we have brightly colored leaves in the fall! I'm glad you enjoyed your trip to New Hampshire! Your photos of the forests of Austria are gorgeous too...I can see where you get your inspirations for the descriptions in your stories!TRavine wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 10:17 pmI've been to New Hampshire. Snow is pretty fun...for a little while! Then it's just cold and wet and you're ready for spring to come again.anywhereis wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 11:53 pm I live in a tropical country so I've never experienced snow in my life. What I would give to make snow angels and make a snowman
I'd be pretty happy to experience a tropical country sometime in my life!

Yikes! That's seriously cold!! We're having a really cold week right now but it's nothing compared to that temperature!mimosa wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 11:58 pmanywhereis wrote: ↑Sat Jan 20, 2024 11:53 pm I live in a tropical country so I've never experienced snow in my life. I agree that it's confusing for me to think about a tropical Christmas season. But I think I would enjoy the warmer weather! Maybe I can convince my family to take a December trip to Australia or New Zealand some year....

I basically grew up in forests and woods and I have to say, it did help with this particular story.

We have a little bit of snow in Upper Austria. Only about two or three inches really, but it still looks nice. I took these yesterday on a little walk.
