The first one is.....

"Let's all celebrate Christmas by throwing out Santa and binning the kids' Christmas games' seems to be the really fun and festive message in this one :rolleyes

The advertising people havent done a very good job of the know your customers thing have they. Yes there are people who want Christmas put in the bin but they aren't the people going to be going out spending arms and legs in marks and Spencer making mega profits for them are they and Christmas adverts should be aimed at people who do Christmas or what's the point.

My vote for return of the snowman my all time favourite Christmas advert. I still don't go to John Lewis much as it's such a trek for me. If I have to go into the city which I do to get there might as well just buy in the city. But would the snowman pass the modern adverts code where half of characters need to be non white and all minorities represented even if it's been not the demographic typically buying your products. The universe hasn't got the memo and the laws of physics will insist snow is white so not much there but maybe snowman could go and buy a rainbow scarf for beloved instead of a red one but would have to vet the stripes for any colours likely to be thought nods to flags. Snowman is already net zero walking all the way to the shops from middle of nowhere home.

Also clothes in adverts don't reflect real life women wouldn't wear sequins dresses by choice at home would they too itchy. Like in the advert that previously kicked up a fuss where a trans person did the washing in a mummy wooden tops circle skirt. Obviously not a real women because they would wear pyjamas to do the washing wouldn't they.

Morrisons have an advert about oven gloves. Its not very realistic because no mention of slugs which are part of oven glove life arent they.

I will shop in Morrisons only as it's the nearest for me but the adverts don't really work on me as I go where I can get to to get what I need. The only time I went out of way was to John Lewis to get an engraved quality street tin of favourite sweets with no nasty toffees. That was advertised onlne I think more as a news story. I don't see the adverts and think of going to a shop I know what and where shops are.

Interesting point about the snowman being white. You could add colouring but yellow snow would be very suspect and brown snow is even worse. :eek
How about a Sikh dastar turban? That'd work.

The John Lewis advert is a monster Xmas tree.

The adverts are getting less and less like adverts aren't they. They are films but don't have messages like go and buy wool and chocolate at shops. Car adverts are like this for a long time though it's guess whose advert it is with them. Some people must shop as a result though it would have stopped paying for adverts by now.

I thought throwing out the monster christmas tree was incredibly heartless and upsetting. Did you see the forlorn way it dragged itself away from the window. I was in tears, and felt totally unable to go to John Lewis and do any shopping.

iS THAT WHAT YOU WANTED, JOHN LEWIS? IS IT??

I was in one of the refurbished John Lewis last month. I hated it. The new lighting makes it look dim and oppressive.
As for their Christmas decorations….

Kevin the carrot is Charlie in the chocolate factory with other vegetables as the other characters. Aldi always sells out of carrot toys and as rationed to two each don't know why they don't get more it's the same every year now.
