Mike Yarwood Passes Away

The great comic impersonator Mike Yarwood has died aged 82. He spent the last few years of his life at Brinsworth House, a care home for former members of the theatre and entertainment profession run by the Royal Variety Charity. Here he is with..........well, have a guess! The chap on the left as you look at the photo was quite well known in his day.

I didn't know the answer so I cheated with an image search for the care home. He's just about recognisable but for me at least it's not easy. Mike is much easier.
Incidentally, why do news reports use the present tense: "MIke Yarwood Dies" as if it is something that is presently underway. It should be "Mike Yarwood has died".

I think it's rather like saying 'quite right' when somebody answers a question 100% correctly. Such people are right, or correct - 'quite' implies that they were not 100% correct.

Every so often my convoluted brain wanders on when a news report has the newsreader saying 'X's condition is critical............always moaning about the food, doesn't like the view from the window' etc.

And you are thinking right Patience - the chap with Mike Yarwood is Richard O'Sullivan. They were attending a tree planting ceremony in 2021 partly to do with HM's forthcoming platinum jubilee at their care home.

I am none the wiser for knowing his name so he wasn't that well known.

He was a co-star in the TV show "Man About the House" and the lead in "Robin's Nest". I also remember him playing a minor character as a bit of an oik in the "Doctor" TV comedies.
