Energy price hikes - how much for YOU

Patience is very kind to put heating on for visitors. Can't you just say I am not cold if they sit there shivering that's what my mum used to do. They will soon learn to turn up wearing jumpers. I put my heater on too. Because I had the door open ready for Tesco and they were late the temperature dr...

Getting Food in the time of Corona, Brexit and War

We are back to signing the germ infested touchscreen device thing. That's the first time here since lockdown. I rushed in to get my tablet pen kept for such times. Oh I can sign it for you he says. What on earth is that all about drivers sign their own deliveries. Maybe they always have during lockd...

Getting Food in the time of Corona, Brexit and War

My food will be here soon and I can have my breakfast. Two subsitutes. One is tinned tomatoes where they are sending me napolina expensive brand ones because the others are unavailable. Tomatoes are tomatoes so I don't pay the extra usually but fine I still have my tinned tomatoes. Other is potato c...

When the tough get going.

There must be more to the story than that. That sort of behaviour (and worse) goes on every Friday and Saturday night in all cities doesn't it. If people are going to be sacked just on somebody saw something as evidence anyone could just say they did to get rid of all of them.

October Chatty - after the apocalypse II

We left lockdown in July for eat out to help out but then schools went back in september and covid came back like it is doing this week. They must have found a way round it unless there's a clause about except in plagues.

Energy price hikes - how much for YOU

That's handy but i doubt it's sums. How gas central heating be so dear and dearer than plug in electric heaters. I have often been told I should get central heating because it's cheaper. I never have because of the disruption and where I would live and store my things while it was being done. So if ...

It's odd this chap being sacked so soon with no arrests or anything else. They are keeping quiet what he's actually done but going by what others have done and not been sacked for it must be something really really bad. The previous plan was say he has my full support etc and then when the newspaper...

Corona - sounds like a fizzy drink but not nice (COVID)

Its whats easiest for whose organising things then. The system as it is does seem to constantly fit the pattern of making things more difficult for patients. I am sorry if STPD is upset by my comment and some individuals are indeed good people but the NHS system is beyond bad and more money isnt hel...

I don't know why storage heaters are so dear they are only some bricks aren't they. And they need installing can't just be plugged in so cost of that added on too. It does seem the way with anything that might seem be a good idea that it's very expensive and so isn't a good idea at all. .. I can't h...

I never said all that only the first bit. I am not sure about having an insurance because it would be like dentists and there just wouldn't be any care at all for patients who can't pay and that would include pensioners who paid towards NHS all their lives but can't afford new insurance now they nee...

It's bizarre how all the governements the world over all seem to have the same failed plans with minor detail and time changes here and there. With all the differernt politics one would think they wouldn't all do the same. Maybe there's only one viruses expert in the whole world and the other expert...

My electric bill is down to lower than before it all started going up. I can't see how this doesn't mean I won't get into debt because the 400 pounds was to help with last times increase wasn't it and it's gone up a bit on that in October. I can't cope with ringing them so will just see what happens...

Ha ha do they sell battery powered ones. I have two already anyway one cost 39.99 and has a thermometer and coloured lights. The cheap ones used to be 9.99 so thats more inflation. I can't see the EU sending us their gas and electric when they don't have enough themselves. They already have agreed t...

There aren't any yet but I thought I would start a topic as it's quite likely this winter isn't it. Worst case scenario but everything this decade has been an even worser version of worst case scenario so that's the new world we live in. Our new UK pm has gone away for an autumn break in Prague to t...

Hooray they turned up. Wasn't he supposed to do a long test of using lots of gas and seeing did he do that. I don't have confidence in smart meters. It's all very well that they don't have to bother to come and read the meter every 2 years but if they need to come out sooner to replace battery (happ...

The first rule of the nhs is what is easiest for the staff. Think of it from that point of view and much of what they do is easier to understand. The only supporting theory i can think in a care home setting is that they might want more staff to be there to help out if they accidently almost kill an...

Dental Treatment in the UK

I had the horrid dentist this morning. I need a small filling and will be 91 pounds. That's on top of the cost for checkup 41 pounds. But an appointment next week is available. It seems unfair when people in real toothache now aren't able to get appointments but for 91 pound one next week for preven...
