12 Marmaduke was a big dog in a newspaper cartoon. Marmaduke is a Great Dane, I remember. I think Astro is the dog from The Jetsons? 15 Coffee plant; Dead Sea scrolls; Herrerasaurus dinosaur? I'm going to go with: discovered by shepherds/goatherds. (But I had to do some reading on Wikipedia.)
