May the fourth be with you

I always liked Zizzi but the one in Hitchin closed down - certainly I'd be happy to eat any of the food pictured especially the prawns and OC's mushrooms. We had a proper old fashioned kids meal of burger, beans and chips last night but II made a small addition which worked surprisingly well. I grat...

The rooftop bar barrier is actually a lot sturdier than it looks and that was one of the better ones as it was almost 5 feet high. One that we went to had a barrier that was 4 feet high at the very most. We did have two very expensive meals but one of them at least was very memorable. The helicopter...

Had to submit this in bits - guessing I exceeded the data limit... Things improved after that - a few days later we ate at the Golden Steer restaurant (frequented by Elvis and the Rat Pack in the 60s) and that meal was outstanding. We started with a Caesar Salad which was prepared at the table - it ...

I finally got my stuff uploaded to iCloud so I have a few photos of my recent holiday - unfortunately I haven't figured out a site that hosts videos yet. We started out with 4 days in Austin, Texas and both starving on the first morning so started off our fortnight of overeating with Eggs Benedict a...

I've had a surprising amount of bumf through the door for these elections - a leaflet from all 4 candidates plus a letter from our MP. The Tories are going to get massacred natioinally but I wonder if that will happen in my town. It has been Tory for 50 years until last election when a Lib-Lab coali...

This is goiing too get vicious - African countries are still breeding at 5 chidren per couple and as global warming takes hold there is no chance their countries are going to able to house them or feed them. It's a 2100 prblem - glad I won't be here. I would be closing the borders now but I acknowle...

Furby wrote: Tue Apr 30, 2024 12:47 pm There was a sausage shop where you could see pigs by name and photo id and pick the one for your sausages seemed quite gruesome to me.
Eeek!! That seems completely morbid to me. I can't even face picking my lobster at fancy fish restaurants.

A small moral dilemma

I think that is sound advice Furby and OC. I doubt they would claim on insurance as the excess is certain to be way more than replacing a name badge. I think my sympathetic attitude towards the boys stems from the fact that I used to be a prankster at the same age - I can remember this horrrible old...

I'm lucky to live in a nice quiet cul de sac and the vast majority of my neighbours are lovely people, all but two houses being occupied by people aged 50+. The two exceptions are two couples around 40 both of whom have sons aged around 11 - they are nice kids and best friends. Around a year ago a c...

Ah St George's Day. Nothing seems to encourage the average keyboard warrior to descend into incoherent apoplectic rage more than St George's Day. There seem to be two camps and very litle middle ground: one group seems to believe they're not allowed to have an England flag any more and that their hu...

12. These are major US sporting trophies - The Earl of Derby was a Stanley and the Stanley Cup is the most important ice hockey trophy; the Vince Lombardi trophy goes to the Superbowl champions in American football; Larry O'Brien was commissioner of the NBA in the 80s so I'd guess the major basketba...
