Great Malvern - Picnic in the Park

You've got a good memory. I think what irked me more is that the management were so greedy and drained so much money out of the company that they were forced to lay off several people I knew a few years later. It was just pure greed. The chairman was one of Blair's lackeys and ended up banking his £...

3. This was US DJs being paid to play specific records on their radio shows to popularise them and get them into the charts. In the UK the major record labels didn't bother with such underhand techniques - they just got a list of the 50 or so record outlets where sales were measuured and reported to...

Ugh that doesn't sound very good Merry - hope you feel better now. We went horse racing at Newmarket on Saturday which was such a lot of fun. One of my friends owns a small company called TrustATrader which is an internet marketing company for the public to find a local accredited tradesman. Althoug...

Great Malvern - Picnic in the Park

Mr M had a panic attack in Waitrose and thought he was ill. That happens to me every time I look at the prices in Waitrose. :D Mr. M does look very well though considering his medical woes over the last year and it looks like a great day out. I used to make an annual visit to Malvern from 1990 to 2...

Rishi Sunak priorities

We know how it goes with Labour though - there will be tax increases for higher earners and those with savings and high limits will be put in place when it's introduced so it only affects "the few" but those limits never increase so every year more and more people get dragged into the high...

You're right of course OC - I must have been still thinking of NVIDIA prices. To be honest I just look at the overall value of my holding rather than the actual share price and I'm 20% down on Saga compared with 4 years ago. It is a rollercoaster though - in 2022 my ISAs dropped almost 20% because I...

Royal Mail Rubbish

Royal Mail has worked OK for me in a small way. I bought the original offering allowance about 10 years ago at £3.30 and sold them in 2015 at a little over £5 (though they had been as high as £6 so I missed the peak). You were only allowed about £700 when they were offered so I only made around £300...

Northern Lights last night, wow!

We saw them on Friday for about 20 minutes but they looked quite unimpressive until viewed through the camera. As OCC will know the views in Iceland are somewhat more spectacular - the most beautiful I've seen are at a place called Kirkjufell Mountain - you can find photos online..

I always liked Zizzi but the one in Hitchin closed down - certainly I'd be happy to eat any of the food pictured especially the prawns and OC's mushrooms. We had a proper old fashioned kids meal of burger, beans and chips last night but II made a small addition which worked surprisingly well. I grat...

The rooftop bar barrier is actually a lot sturdier than it looks and that was one of the better ones as it was almost 5 feet high. One that we went to had a barrier that was 4 feet high at the very most. We did have two very expensive meals but one of them at least was very memorable. The helicopter...

Had to submit this in bits - guessing I exceeded the data limit... Things improved after that - a few days later we ate at the Golden Steer restaurant (frequented by Elvis and the Rat Pack in the 60s) and that meal was outstanding. We started with a Caesar Salad which was prepared at the table - it ...

I finally got my stuff uploaded to iCloud so I have a few photos of my recent holiday - unfortunately I haven't figured out a site that hosts videos yet.
