Some more rations arrived for Them today. EVRI don't give you much time - I had an email at 11:40 to say the package was out for delivery and I had the Felix wet food half an hour later. So now They have 12 weeks of wet food not started yet, with 6 pouches (2 -3 days supply) to use up of the opened ...

The Peregrines Are Back At Winchester Cathedral
They must have corrected the write-up since you saw it, Furby, because for today they don't mention four eggs - they just say that the third egg fell from the nest box and they show a pic of it in the gap between the nest box and the cathedral wall on Mel's left. They also say that perhaps Mel will ...

The beta blocker was to slow my heart down in order to help reduce my blood pressure; the particular one I was using had worked perfectly well for at least 20 years. When my heart rate started to slow down by itself the beta blocker just added to that effect, which is why my pulse frequently was bel...

You've seen this group before on Page 6; they are from Canton Wallis which the French call Valais. One of them reminds me slightly of the American actor Stacey Keach. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5m-gwvmoWo&list=RDEM5Zg0CBt9FmdN6cfaCr6Pwg&index=24 This is from a playlist on YouTube, so i...

Juliet and Sam visit Concorde!
They used to have a Concorde you could walk inside and have a look at in the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton, but I haven't been there for a very long time.

Tips were not included in the cost, but they put out an envelope on our last day on the boat in each cabin with a suggestion that we put in €12 per day. I thought the crew were wonderful so I put in €100. Diogo had a separate tip box and he got what change I had left, just over €4 which sounds a bit...

Thank you Eccs and Furby. Dr Yue thought I had started tending towards sinus bradycardia (slower heart beat) a little while ago and the beta blocker was making it worse. Looks like he was correct.

I had a letter from Cardiology, giving me an appointment for my heart ultrasound scan on 7 May. That means both the tests that Dr Yue thought necessary have been arranged. Meanwhile my BP is 130s/80s most of the time and my pulse is usually in the 70s or 80s. I haven't had a dizzy spell since part w...

Well done Jay. After work I once had a full rear view of a lady with a posterior 5 times as wide as Jay's leaning into the boot of her car; the lady was wearing very tight leggings. I was sitting in my car about to drive away from the car park, but I didn't leave straight away because I was interest...

Furby grumbled So nothing really went wrong with cruise in the sense of Poseidon adventure it was just that it couldn't sail due to too much water in river. What a swizz story I was looking forward to some dreadful disasters. I expected at least one person falling overboard. :rofl In my defence, it ...

Day 7 - Monday April 8 On this morning we should have been returning to Oporto, but we were at Entre-os-Rios waiting for the Salamanca people to return from what turned out to be a very good trip for them; overnight in a 5 star hotel with a first-rate dinner, flamenco show with dinner, huge rooms w...

The solo traveller cruises are few and far between, Furby, and it looks as if all the Douro ones next year are in March. So I am hoping that next year the river behaves itself and all the sailings happen on time. And yes, there are puds after all the fish, which I had on separate evenings at dinner....

Thanks, Furby. Mel has been brooding them both times I've looked. Mel is now having a late lunch so I could see the two eggs. The Diary has been updated and they think she will lay one more egg, perhaps tomorrow. Meanwhile the last chick reared to fledge by Winnie and William last year has been spot...

I phoned Riviera Travel this morning because I haven't received the official letter re compensation yet, and I was informed it was sent out on 9 April. So they will email it to me sometime today. I have decided what to do with the compensation if Riviera stick to their promise of 100% of the cost go...

Day 6 - Sunday April 7 This was a busy early morning for the people going to Salamanca, because their coaches set off at 08:00. Meanwhile, a morning excursion to the Mateus Palace gardens had been arranged for those of us who didn't go to Salamanca. I was fed up with riding on coaches so I stayed o...

Was the original plan to stay on the boat and just have short trips where it stopped Correct, Furby. However, even from Oporto we were never on the coach for much more than 1 hour, but after that the coach seat was starting to get uncomfortable for me. I have a tender spot at the base of my spine, ...

Diogo was great. He's a freelance and not an employee of the travel company. He really worked his socks off for us, and our group told him several times just how much we appreciated his efforts, and the kindness of the boat crew (of which there were 40), several times after things started to go wrong.

I have not the slightest idea what this is all about, and I don't know what the clowns have to do with it. The yodelling herdsmen of Appenzell.
