Writing about Writing
Meanwhile I know absolutely nothing about British industry in the 1920s. My research is yielding nothing interesting. ....I guess this is where imagination is going to come into play. That or Margaret is just going to hire John to be her live-in lover/chauffeur/mechanic. Does she even own a car..? ...

Where do we all live?
This is beautiful! Truly fantastic. Did you take this picture?Lothiriel84 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2024 5:01 pm Hello, everyone - nice to meet you all.
I live in the country Mrs Shaw was ordered to spend a winter in for the sake of her health (just as she desired).

100 words a day - for slow writers, or those with writers' block
Hey, merry, Coming upon this post again. I was thinking that with your circumstantial decrease in personal time to write if your advice to us last year would be helpful to you. I guess there would have to be "the writing zone" as well, because I am imagining that it can be hard to write 1...

To Finish (and post) or to Post (before you finish)
... and back on topic: I never, ever post a work in progress (I once rewrote and expanded a very early story of mine as a work in progress, but that was a different matter) because I do a lot of editing of early chapters during writing the later ones. This is particularly true when I'm writing a my...

To Finish (and post) or to Post (before you finish)
It came up today that so many writers on A03 etc. have different ways of approaching fics and posting. I'm so very curious what people think, what they do, and why.... I have tended to start stories and post as I go, simply because I am the worst at waiting, especially when an idea excites me. I wan...

Writing about Writing
Thank you! That is helpful. I also miss having a blog. Back in the old Harry Potter days I had a livejournal where I could throw all sorts of random thoughts and ideas. But on the other hand this does rather force things to percolate and actually manifest in the form of reasonably coherent fiction....

Writing about Writing
By the way I skimmed back through the middle portion of Lady Chatterley's Lover to get a feel for the pheasant coop/hut logistics, and a) this book is actually pretty funny - kind of a bleak, saucy comedy, and b) Mellors reminds me so much of a younger Nicholas Higgins. I can't unsee it. Like, the ...

Fanfic ideas
So I had a couple other ideas. It isn't very fleshed out, and not quite as spicy as my last idea. The characters would be a little OOC. Ideas # 1: A fic where Margret is the one to propose. -AU where the mill failing never happens - Margret's mother and father want to see her settled before they di...

So it's Tuesday now, but I finally found the picture I wanted to share yesterday. I don't know why but I'm drawn to this image over and over. I used this as the base to make a wallpaper aaaaages ago. (Which is why it took so long to dig it up. I had to find my external hard drive and sift through a...

Hope you all enjoy it - I had a lot of pleasure in reconstructing this collection of letters++ - researching to make the physicality of the letters feel real. It was a delicious story ! Make...
