130/80 isn't bad for blood pressure and good news that you can achieve it without the beta blockers, OC. Hopefully that has done the trick for the dizzy spells. Good luck with your appointment. Because I am over 75 I have been offered a Spring covid booster which I booked yesterday for next Monday a...

Only a small drop in inflation to 3.2%. I was expecting below 3%. I've given up on Clover. As you say, Furby, it's ridiculously expensive and the taste is nothing special any more since they cut the buttermilk content. I now buy supermarket brand spreadable butter which is a Lurpac copy with identic...

Ahoy there - OC takes a cruise!!!

There seems to be a human tendency to view mishaps with horror but secretly think that we're glad that they didn't happen to us. Next time you take a tumble perhaps you could exaggerate things a little, maybe get a fake plaster cast. This will achieve two objectives; overt sympathy from Merry and gl...

Yesterday's visit to the WWT Slimbridge didn't yield many good results but these two found in the reserve grounds were ok. Right click and open in a new window for bigger images. I had a nice day out at Slimbridge yesterday in the sunshine with my brother. Unfortunately most of my photos were quite distant and badly affected by heat haze. I did get a robin and a cute little greylag gosling which I'll post later. It was worth the trip if only for the hedges and reed beds whic...

Thanks for the tips Merry. I hadn't thought of toasted cheese sandwiches. I'll probably be off out tomorrow so will need to take a packed lunch but maybe I'll try that on Saturday. I've tried fish fingers and battered fish but didn't need oil.

I wonder if OC will holiday there in 2026? There was an error in the weather forecast yesterday. The weather lady said today's tides would be high because it was a full moon. Everyone knows that you cannot have a full moon and a solar eclipse (transit) at the same time. The moon is currently not vis...

The USA has been lucky with several eclipses in the last few years. I suppose it's inevitable; because the country is so big there's more chance of it occurring somewhere there.
Scientifically it isn't an eclipse but a transit. A lunar eclipse is a true eclipse.

I'm not Islamophobic.

I know there are irreconcilable differences between Sunni and Shia, but I think “I Got You Babe” was a classic.

So, a crow fell down the chimney and came out into the living room....

"Poor Merry on her birthday."
You were fortunate that STPD was there with PPE.

Can you install one of those whirly spinning things on the chimney?

Spaghetti harvest

Today all of Switzerland is celebrating the annual spaghetti harvest. Despite some of the worst Spring weather on record the harvest is expected to be a bumper one so we can all look forward to lower prices this year.

:) A Lancashire man’s wife died. She was a proper Lancashire lass but very religious so the husband asked for the epitaph “She was Thine”. When the headstone was up he visited the grave but the epitaph read “She was Thin”, so he called the monumental mason and said “you’ve left the E off”. When he w...
