Cheer about 53AP and good old ernie
Well I got my biggest prize ever (£100) today Or the promise of it anyway. I think they pay it into my account automatically, but when I went to log onto the site I realised it was going to send a code to my old phone number. So I've written them a letter asking them to update it. They say to call, ...

COPILOT - MS's scarily (?) clever AI
I was casting about for a question to ask it that would be difficult and as you do I couldn't think of one. So I asked it to write me a perl script to say "hello world" and it did... perfectly. I suppose it could have copied it from somewhere, but that would seem to be cheating. But I said...

New Computer
OC, I'm glad you got your sound back after all. I missed all the excitement, but it looks like you got the best advice anyway. It must be a relief to not have to replace the PC just yet. Did you get the meter display back? Mine freezes now and then and I just pull the plug and put it back. So far it...

Matilda the Musical was quite good, but never seen the stage play. You all seem to be having fun! Ouch at broken ribs, Wildrover. I've somehow managed to never break any, but no one I know who has ever said it was fun so I'll pass. OC, I don't know how we managed before Amazon and the like. I rememb...

January Chatty - Happy New Year!
Eccles, they are still saying the 16th. The support guy talks as though it will be precisely that day, but I don't see how they would know. It would be an estimate I'm sure. Unfortunately it's not the first time a cabinet has been wrecked and one at least took 5 weeks as they had to dig up cables. W...

Happy New Year to you all.
Since HF detectives found the connection between my broadband loss and a car crash I thought I'd post this.
I only just found out for certain this was the cause.
Apparently he drove through the cabinet before taking the corner off the house.

Furby, well spotted with the car crash thing. I'm still puzzled by that. On the one hand it was at just the right time to be the cause and it did damage gas/electricity lines. But how could it break the broadband and yet leave the phone still working? That's a very clever car crash lol I wish they'd...

December Chatty, hohoho!
Hi all. It's certainly been a different Christmas. While I've had my phone to get online I struggle with font sizes so it's a last resort usually. Eccles, thank you for the research. I found myself struggling to answer the simplest questions because they all assumed you knew how it was done and I wa...

Merry Update
Hi all. I meant to post before, but it's been a bit hectic. Merry, has been quite unwell with flu and that has brought on her labyrinthitis which to my mind is worse. When it's bad she can't even sit up We're hoping that the worst is over and that she will be back soon, but meanwhile she says she's ...

Thanks Mimosa, Babs. :wave It's all been pretty good. Though I wasn't allowed to have a candle for each year for safety reasons. :lol Furby, I didn't know that was a setting so I shall look. I'm gradually taming the tablet and I'm enjoying it, but I just spent ages trying to make the keyboard match ...

Thanks all. :wave and thanks Furby for the artwork. You're right things don't stay the same. This is me keeping one step ahead of the changes KeepingAhead.jpg Having a good day so far. Whinge about a One
Furby, I wasn't aware of the Government Gateway change, but it seems like "one' is a new fashion. Google One you can ignore until you get short of space. The Government One probably not. One login to rule them all, One login to find them, One login to bring them all, And in the darkness bind...

Whinge about printer inks
Furby the bad news is that there's probably nothing you can do about it. It seems that the majority of printers mix colours to make greyscale and to smooth edges of fonts which might otherwise look jagged. There might be a monochrome setting which is different from greyscale, but even if it has one ...

Login Problems?
If you have issues with logging in there is a solution that usually works. At the bottom of the board you can click Delete Cookies which will clear just the board cookies on that device or browser. Then you must login again and it should just work. You may also see a message saying you have to answe...
