"I contend that we are both atheists, I just believe in one less god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all other possible gods, then you will know why I dismiss yours." (Stephen F. Roberts)

Does God Exist?

There is no evidence that any Gods exist, any more then there is evidence for the existence of Pixies, Fairies or Gnomes. It's equally valid to believe in any of those. We don't need to prove there are no Fairies at the bottom of the garden. The onus is on the person who claims to have seen them.

This applies to all Gods. All the various Christian Gods (all slightly different) and the hundreds of others around the world from the Muslim's God to the Gods of ancient Greece and Rome which are currently out of fashion. We will concentrate here on the Christian version, but they are all essentially copies. They frequently share the same ancient myths with just a few changes.

The only reason to believe in God at all is the Bible. Any Christian who denies its literal truth is removing any basis for belief whatsoever. So let's look at the Bible and see if any of it makes sense and at the God portrayed in it. Most churches will tell you that God is kind and wise and all powerful. Unfortunately that is not what the Bible says at all.

In time we will have quotes from every book of the Bible demonstrating the inconsistencies and the character of the God that it demands you worship and emulate.

If the flood happened...

Then what about pregnant women who's unborn children died along with them? Abortion is sanctioned by god then and doesn't even require a good reason.

There must be a watchmaker

Creation by design

The watchmaker/design argument is that the universe is too complex to have come about unless designed by a god.
The reality is quite different, but since so many Christians use this argument I have a simple answer for them. If that is the case then the god who created it must be Thor the Thunder God.

Most Christians would be devastated by this since they are of the opinion that 'proof' of a god's existence would automatically prove 'their' god exists whereas it does nothing of the kind.

I have picked Thor since clearly he must be god since he has a big hammer (this is the general level of proof one hears for gods) and because I have this 'feeling' he exists therefore he does. Of course others might have similar 'feelings' about their god, but all religons agree that only their believers' 'feelings' count.

"I contend that we are both atheists, I just believe in one less god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all other possible gods, then you will know why I dismiss yours." (Stephen F. Roberts)

Morality is doing what is right no matter what you are told. Religion is doing what you are told no matter what is right.

A believer is a bird in a cage. A freethinker is an eagle parting the clouds with tireless wing. -- Robert Ingersoll

'The list of things about which we have to be strictly agnostic is infinite. If you want to believe in a particular one of them - teapots, unicorns, tooth fairies, Thor or Yahweh - the onus is on you to say why you believe in it. The onus is not on the rest of us to say why we do not. We who are atheists are also a-fairyists, a-teapotists, and a-unicornists, but we don't have to bother saying so.'

"You believe in a book that has talking animals, wizards, witches, demons, sticks turning into snakes, burning bushes, food falling from the sky, people walking on water, and all sorts of magical, absurd and primitive stories, and you say we are the ones that need help?"--Mark Twain

Biblical Quotes

A loving God?

Infanticide/genocide is ok if God orders it

1 Samuel 15:1-3 1 Samuel also said unto Saul, The LORD sent me to anoint thee to be king over his people, over Israel: now therefore hearken thou unto the voice of the words of the LORD.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.
Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.

A moral God?

When God destroyed the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot was one of the very few regarded by him as good enough to be worth saving. He sent two angels to tell him to pack up and leave. The last verse says it all.

Ge:19:1-8And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground;
And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant's house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.
And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat.
But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter:
And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.
And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him,
And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly.
Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.

Prophet of God

Elisha had just been blessed by Elijah and was performing miracles in Gods name. Clearly a very holy man.

2Ki 2:23-24 And he (Elisha) went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head.
And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tore forty and two children of them.

Rev 22:18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
Rev 22:19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
Rev 22:20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
Rev 22:21 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Places, events, and situations in these stories are purely fictional. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, is coincidental. Any opinions expressed within the books' content are also fictional; they do not necessarily represent the opinions of the many authors whose collected works make up this anthology.

Due to the considerations of available space and the cultural bias of the times many similar works were excluded and this is in no way reflects their literary worth, but only their suitability for the purpose for which this collection was created.

A special thanks to those hard working members of staff who painstakingly rewrote whole sections to make them applicable to modern times and compatible with modern opinion.

Please remember that as a work of fiction this collection contains much that is wildly inccurate and contradictory and should not be taken literally. We can not be responsibility for injuries (mental or physical) caused by actions taken based on any part of these books.
