In the expectation that the scheme (currently confined to a small experimental area) should be rolled out nationwide, is it worth us putting on a few stone now so we can make a small but worthwhile boost to our incomes? merry jettisons the salad and makes an immediate start
Two thirds of British adults are either obese or overweight
Can that really be true?Either obese OR overweight? Surely someone who is obese is also overweight. I can quite believe the statement though. Take a look around you next time you go shopping. There are an awful lot of fat people around.Love the idea of putting on weight now to get the money
I'm afraid it's probably true about the amount of obesity, though I think we probably need to look at the root causes rather than gimmicks. It's not simply 'eating too much' out of habit though that is part of it.
Paying people would work a bit because of keeping them motivated. I know what it's like to gain/lose weight as I'm in a permanent battle with mine. I'm slim enough now, but have only got to get a bit fed up with being hungry all the time and up it goes again.
Now if I could get sponsored for putting on weight I'd be rich. If gaining weight were an Olympic event I could get the gold.Obese is when a SUBL's BMI is 30 or more.
Overweight is when the BMI is 25-29.9.
Creature's BMI is 39.5 which is 0.5kg short of being Morbidly Obese compared with being merely Obese. The BMI calculator said his healthy weight is between 9st 1lb and 11st 5 lb.
So you only got 6st 9lb to drop before you is healthy weight Our Creature, hweh hweh hweh it going to be SALAD and COLD MEAT for you on 26 June hweh hweh hweh
Turning to Me, I is just right and not obese, I was 4.8kg last time they weighed me. Sister Claire was 4.4kg.Well I don't actually see too many fat people round here. I can only think of one in Toddington (population 223)! Evesham, I admit, is rather a different story.
. If gaining weight were an Olympic event I could get the gold.
I have a special talent for it too! Every year over the winter I gain 10lb. Then I lose 8lb of that in April-October, walking season.... I think we can all see the problem there...
The BMI calculator said his healthy weight is between 9st 1lb and 11st 5 lb.
I think Creature would look very strange and very unhealthy at 9st anything. However, we could all do with losing a few pounds no doubt... for the sake of being fit for as long as we can, so why not join me in a few fruit and salad days (but not on June 26th - amnesty! )In the olden days poor people were thin as they couldn't afford food full stop, now they are obese as they can afford fattening foods as they are now so cheap but can't afford the healthy eating options so grow up out of the habit.
I think the BMI charrts are well out of date, clothes sizes have been increased (size 16 then is size 14 now etc) so why not BMI charts. If you can still get through a door that is OK, this is my scale.
I make things like stew sometimes but I think my generation is the last that is able to cook such raw cheap foods. Some people still cook but they tend to be fancy chef type people able to afford leaves on their plates. Perhaps they could do a new TV show on cooking cheap foods like stew on a budget, it would make a nice change.BMI charts don't tell the whole story because they don't take into account body frame size. My BMI is 21 which means theoretically I should have hardly any body fat. That isn't the case as my frame size is relatively slight, and I would be better if I lost four or five pounds.
My brother told me a story once of a fitness drive when he was in the RAF. A friend of his had a large frame, was very fit and was built like the proverbial brick sh shed. He was a classic example of muscle being heavier than fat, but his BMI was over 25 so he was referred to the required doctor for weight loss recommendations. The doctor took one look at him and said "That's daft. You're wasting my time and yours." and sent him on his way.I fancy some stew now.I'd love to get paid for losing weight! At the moment it's costing money, I bought some new scales the other day and some of those lipobind tablets. Hoping that if it costs enough to start that will be more motivation to stick at it, but being paid would be much nicer!
Has anyone else noticed that New Years Day is in the wrong time of year? This year and last year, I made a resolution to get thin, by around March I'm starting to look OK so stop trying, so it's all gone hopeless again by the time we get our summer clothes on. If they moved New Year to April it would be about right.
BethIt might be easier to make an April resolution instead. Next Page...
