Continuing the medical theme I noticed when doing my Tesco order that they sell a hands-free liquid soap dispenser.

Now I always use liquid soap. Much as I love a new bar of 'proper' soap it's not so attractive when lying in a puddle of slimy water.

It's just that though and not that I'm worried about catching something by touching it. Unless you are living with someone who has a serious medical condition I can't imagine any need to avoid touching a soap dispenser. Especially as you only touch it before you wash your hands.

Surely it's playing on people's paranoia to suggest you should never touch it?? What could you catch that way in your home that you wouldn't get anyway from living with the person?

For that matter in the long run is there any advantage to avoiding exposure to the various infections circulating through your local community?

No unless they invent hands free doors and hands free money  we are still contaminated.
Well one good reason for hands free dispensers is if you are doing grimy greasy work.

They have them installed at the rescue squad, for instance, since people come in from fire fighting, absolutely charred, and we have to paint the walls around the soap dispensers pretty frequently.

People who are doing farming, forrestry, painting, mechanical repairs etc might also want hands free dispensers.

Of course the hospitals have them too.

But I would think for everyday household hand washing they'd be excessive.
