Soon we won't be able to talk about politics as once an election is announced, Pani and Merry won't be allowed to let us talk on anyone's side unless an equal number of people talk on all the other sides and it would be so exhausting in sock puppetry skills so we all need to not talk at all it is easier all round.
Anyway it is not announced yet so har har
The latest poster campaign is done by the Labour party to discredit David Cameron on the grounds that he will sit on a car in his nice suit and take us back to the 1980s.
The news channels are saying this will backfire as people will like the look of David Cameron in a suit sitting on a car and not get the threat. I can't see the attraction of a man in a suit sat on car myself but the 1980s weren't so bad really.
Compared to the last decade anyway.
Compared to the last decade anyway.
Or the next one.I think I can handle the equal coverage thing by posting that both sides are evil cheating incompetents
Can we have Cameron in FRONT of a car?OK.I really do think they are assuming a level of understanding of subtle messages amongst the general public that is not there.
For myself I am lacking the knowledge of popular culture needed to even get started, I didn't know it was from Ashes to Ashes until this was told to me and haven't seen the show anyway, although I recognised Cameron on the car. I didn't know what a Quattro was until I looked it up.
People who did have the culture seem to miss the mental leap required to get the other messages though. The people interviewed seemed to think Mr Ashes-to-ashes was an alright sort of guy not a bad guy at all so I think this goes down as worst poster advert so far.Creature thinks the Eccles poster makes David Cameron look like the sort of chap you'd quite happily let buy you a drink in the pub, though you would have to be on your guard.
Have you tried selling it to Conservative Central Office, Eccs? No of course you haven't because it the Tories own adaptation of it, silly me, wergh.
Rather different to this picture where Cameron looks half-witted.That last picture reminds me of the Hamiltons. Neil always looked to me as though nobody was home. I always imagined that Mrs Hamilton had rehearsed signals to tell him when to smile, wave, stand up, sit down etc.On the news channels they were saying that the age of the poster is over because these days it gets spoofed and the spoofs are on the internet before most people see the real posters.
I haven't seen the spoofs apart from the ones helpfully posted above but I haven't got out much (geographically or online) in the last few months. My plan to hibernate until the election is over is not going very well.
I am just hoping it is not like the 1970s where we get a hung parliament and then have to go though it all again the autumn. But if we could get the three day week inbetween at least that would be some compensation. If we have a three day week does that mean my birthday will come around quicker? Next Page...
