I am just watching the TV where the couple who have just won 50 million are having their press conference.

I personally think it unfair that people who can afford to send their daughter ski-ing win the lottery, but life is unfair isn't it.

Anyway what can people possible gain from the publicity? I really do not understand this.

Me and Creature do not understand it, either.

If we won even a 10% share of such largesse, we would not move, we would shun publicity, and Creature would pretend he had decided to pack in work and was living off our savings until the pension kicked in.

Subsequent improvements in our lifestyle would be attributed to lucky investing etc so far as the neighbours were concerned - if they asked.

It is a pity for the poor children being grounded isn't it.
It makes you a target for all kinds of things so I wouldn't want to shout about it.

I'd love the money though :)

And I would move, but then I don't have a house to start with. If I were settled in a nice house I might not be in a rush to go anywhere.

I don't need a palace to be happy in. Just a reasonably sized house and no need to think about bills.

I heard them talking on the radio.  Apparently they are going to 'make a lot of people's lives a little easier'.  I hope they stick to that as wouldn't it be just wonderful to have it in your power to say 'here you are.  Buy a house and never work again' to nice people who deserve it.
I couldn't tell whether I'd have a press conference, but it's not going to happen to me anyway, since I don't buy lottery tickets.

My reasoning is this. If there's no such thing as good luck, statistics indicate that I'll never win a large sum of money, so I don't buy the lottery tickets.

If there is such a thing as good luck, I don't want to waste mine on something as unimportant as money, so I don't buy the lottery tickets.

See what I mean? :D

If there is such a thing as good luck it has avoided me so far so I may as well take the money and buy my own luck.

In fact at times I believe there is such a thing as bad luck as you couldn't write the script for my unluckiness of things at times.

I would also not want a very large house, and even my own house would do nicely if it had mod cons like central heating and a nice bathroom and built in cupboards to put stuff in. And a new roof and rendered walls and new doors and windows. Am I being too greedy?

A large house is too much trouble to clean, and even if you could afford the cleaners, you don't really want strangers noseying round do you?

I would want the never work again and this is my current top of the list dream. The older I get the cheaper it gets so I still have hopes.
