I think I asked this question before and there was a way but it cost money and was all too much trouble for the benefits at the time etc.

But now I am in contact with distant relatives who seem to like text messaging me to check I am not the next dead family member. So far so good but then I have to reply to them.
And I am a very lazy furby and after 2 words of pressing pqrs key four times to get the s key I start muttering things and wish I was typing on a proper keyboard.

Why can't people just use t-internet eh. Anyway has anyone got any tips for lazy text messagers.

I get round this by mostly using a keyboard for texting,  ahahaha! - Orange give away 30 free txts via the internet per month.  I use Jay's and STPD's allowances of free texts too as they don't need them.

If you're not with Orange I would think most other providers do something similar - ?

You only get 140 chrs so you learn to be pretty succinct :D  But at least you  don't have to do the jab jab mutter delete jab damn deleted the wrong bit jab damn predictive text oh this is garbled gobbledygook but I expect they will get my drift SEND, routine.

Also are you sure your phone does not do the predictive texting that merry mentions? It sounded worse to me until I tried it and got used to it (on my phone it's a bit crude, but it does work)
Now I can do it reasonably fast with less key presses.

Yes it does predictive text but it never predicts what I want to say so I had to turn it off.

I tried to test it just now but didn't get past typing Y for Yes as it predicted W.

Furby, I had a struggle with this, but see if I can describe how it works for me.

What you are supposed to do is keep typing until it has enough letters to narrow it down to your word. At which point it changes the whole word to fit.

I click Y but it hasn't got a clue yet so it puts in X. I ignore it and click E and it displays WE since that would work with those key-presses too.
I press S and now it has it very narrowed down. It display YESwhich is what I wanted. I can press to go RIGHT (this may vary) and accept the word or UP to scroll through any other possibilities.

When I first heard about this I shook my head "that's worse than doing the multiple clicks!" I said. But in fact the more you do it the easier it gets. Just type and trust it to know (but check before you send just in case it put something silly in)

Merry's phone will I think even complete the rest of the word once you are sure it has it worked out. So if you got the first few letters of antidisestablishmentarianism in you can press a key to say "yeah that's what I meant"

Morse code?
