Yes! Creature has thought to me that we has an Email from BT to say that the broadband and phone service in our area is going to be upgraded!
Our present grade is up to 8 mb/second, but in practice it is a maximum of 3mb/second.
This is OK for most of what Creature and Me do, but it will be nice to get the pages coming up even quicker when we does surf and download.
Upgrade Day is Thurdsay and it should be done by 6:00pm, but they do say it might take 10 days for everything to settle down.
I think that means they know there will be problems for some SUBLs broadband, so they are getting their 'ride up with wear' excuse ready in advance, wergh.
Well fingers crossed it goes smoothly. I think they do overestimate it so that it looks good when the problems are only small ones.
I don't know if this is the same thing, but BT are doing some major changes in some areas. As well as making what you have work better you might get a huge increase or at least the offer to upgrade to higher speeds.
I think the promise is up to 20mb/sec but the email didn't say. The link led to another link about 'how fast?' and that said 20mb.
We shall see!
I have been considering going back there as that way I can get a combined phone+internet deal and it should be cheaper for me overall.
I know I can get combined internet+phone from elsewhere but then they don't help with the phone when the trees grow (long story) so I am not ever moving my phone.
Keep us posted with any problems and tales of praise of speedyness too.
Being without internet for 10 days would be hell. I hope you avoid that fate.
I think the ten days is be the time taken for the speed to automatically train up and down to get the optimum balance of speed and bit error rate. Hopefully, Creature will not notice much disruption.
BT said they would email if they could not do the upgrade today, before the upgrade was due. It was supposed to be done by 18:00 today.
BT said they would email after they had done the upgrade.
You will not be surprised to know that Creature has received no emails from BT today.
The BT speed test says Creature can have a maximum 3 Mb download speed so that is unchanged.
Wergh.
How disappointing.
At least it still works though so could be worse.
We has got the email now, so Creature will find out wot real change has happened when he gets home from Work tonight.
So long as creature not too excited and forget to give Midge her Hill's when he get home. WERGH!
