You could not make this up.

Sex abuse scandals in the Roman Catholic Church are proof that that "the Devil is at work inside the Vatican", according to the Holy See's chief exorcist.

Father Gabriele Amorth, 85, who has been the Vatican's chief exorcist for 25 years and says he has dealt with 70,000 cases of demonic possession, said that the consequences of satanic infiltration included power struggles at the Vatican as well as "cardinals who do not believe in Jesus, and bishops who are linked to the Demon".

He said it sometimes took six or seven of his assistants to to hold down a possessed person. Those possessed often yelled and screamed......................

Well, you would yell and scream if someone as weird as he looks doing an Exorcism on you, that would be normal behaviour for SUBLs.

There are very normal-seeming people around, with no vested interest in religion, who truly believe that there is a Devil and he walks among us.   :huh  That's almost as scary as there actually being a devil.

In the middle of one very normal conversation with me a woman once revealed that the previous night she had been aware that there was a 'demon sitting on her chest'.  It all turned out fine as her guardian angel brought some mates along and wrestled with the demon (nvisibly) and off the demon was packed.  This 'off her chest' as it were, she then carried on talking about biscuits, but I was left knowing one of us was mad and it was possibly me.

No, I really don't think it was you ....

people are scarily weirder than we think, aren't they!

Many years ago a friend of mine was fooling around with  a ouja board with some of her friends. I was not present and got told the following story by her.
A 'spirit' started moving the glass around and they got the message that the entity had known my friend but was no longer living. There were the usual sudden removal of fingers from the glass and when only two fingers were left the glass would stop moving, but different people would remove their finger each time so no one could be sure that others were pushing the glass around on purpose. As the session went on the friend became unnerved and ended the session. Apparently the way to finish is to tell the entity to move the glass once around the board then depart. The glass moved very slowly around before eventually stopping.
My friend had a young daughter upstairs in bed at the time with the flu. The daughter suddenly appeared at the lounge door saying there was someone in her room because she'd seen the smoke, presumably thinking someone who was smoking a cigarette had entered the room.
They checked it out and there was no one there of course. But they never used a ouija board again.
The daughter was feverish from the virus and most likely imagined it but it was an awful coincidence that she imagined she saw something just as the supposed entity departed.
I believe that in all probability there are no gods, devils or ghosts but I was left with an open mind by that story.

I actually love the idea that there might be more to the universe than we know (well there certainly is more of course). Some of the believers misunderstand this and think I just want dismiss everything I've not seen personally.

I do want a world that makes sense and which follows rules.  I don't have to always understand those rules, but as long as some group of reasonably unbiased people have worked them out I'm okay with that. (I'm uncertain about Heisenberg and with quantum theory I don't know where I am)

So if they ever find proof that there is a god or ghosts I'll be as pleased as them. More pleased probably since they have expectations about heavenly choirs and the whereabouts of Uncle Fred's will which I don't share. :D

I'd love to find that telepathy worked or telekinesis. I always wanted to find that special gate in the garden wall that took you to another place. Sadly I think it would be full of people claiming without evidence that there was another better place and that for a small donation they could reveal the way.
