UKIP wants to ban the burkha, however Ed Balls, the education secretary says that it was "not British" to tell people what to wear in the street.

UKIP don't have a cat in hells chance of forming a government so I don't think anyone needs to worry.
Anyway I am surprised at the current government being opposed. They love banning things and get withdrawal symptoms if they don't ban at least one thing a week.
Anyway everyone knows that people take no notice of bans and that bans are not enforced anyway.
I agree that UKIP are irrelevant in an election sense but their call for the burkha to be banned raises an important point. Namely, that the government is now on record in supporting both ID cards and the right of the carrier not to be recognisable.
at the combination. When they demand a picture of me for an ID card I'm going to have to insist my face is covered
