Poor old Clyde has a bad cough - he does get one every summer (allergy-related) and is never entirely free of it, but it seems a little worse than usual at present and Pam has suggested we get the vet out :(

He seems well in himself though - fat as butter, shiny coat and very naughty - lively!  So hopefully this isn't the beginning of a decline.  Though he is 25 now!

Here's a picture I took on my phone, I was driving down to the stables and he saw the car and came running to the gate

'Get me in, Grandmar, I've 'ad enuff o'being out 'ere!'

And another - is he one handsome boy, or what! :love
Awww I hope you had some apples for him
A very noble profile indeed!

Hope it is just allergies.

Our beloved feline Falcon has seasonal allergies and asthma.

Sympathy, much sympathy...

You stay well, Clyde!  :hug
He really is good-looking, especially in the first photo - lovely! What does he do for exercise when J is away?

Hope he is well and not troubled by his cough! :hug (to be read as = hug-equivalent-as-appropriate-for-horses icon)

Awwww thanks everyone!  Jay will be thrilled at the praise for his looks  :D and thanks for all the messages of support.

Helio, Clyde's on working livery and does two-three hours of lessons most days - adults and kids ride him - he's a good all-rounder and safe and fast, so he's popular.  So his exercise comes as a by-product of him earning his keep, as it were (working livery costs only half what Full Livery does.)  Of course he's not able to work at the moment  :(  so we're all hoping we don't get handed a bill for Full fees - Pam is not heartless so I'm hoping not.  He's making his own exercise at present by being turned out in the field (probably because it costs Pam less to feed him that way :lol)

I'll update once the vet has seen him.

I am no vet but it sounds like Clyde has hayfever... I wonder if normal antihistamines work on horses as well as humans :D mind you if they make him drowsy that may not be such a good thing!

Ron

I think he has, Ron - his worst days coincide with my worst days!

Funnily enough, Jay and I have been wondering if we could give Clyde human anti-histamines - £1 a strip in Tesco - I bet the Vet variety are £20 per pill  :lol

I suspect you would have to feed him several whole packets of Piriton for it to have any effect - half a ton on horse will need a lot of antihistamine :)
