Well who would have thunk it eh?

The drug ecstasy is no more dangerous than riding a horse.

The council, which advises the government, is expected next week to recommend that ecstasy is downgraded from a class A drug to a class B one.

And raise horseriding to class A? :D

:lol Don't give them ideas. A public park was locked recently because it had snowed and they were worried someone might slip and injure themselves. I can see a time coming when walking fast is made illegal in case you trip over.

This probably because many Stand-Up-Back-Legses no longer believe in the concept of Accident, taking instead the view that anything wot go wrong is the fault of Somebody Else, preferably a Somebody Else wot can be Sued for Money.

Local Authorities are a prime target for this, because nobody do like them.   Even if a Local Authority do win a case they have to spend time and money on it.

The concept of Individual Responsibility is dying rapidly.   50 years ago, if Creature had slipped on the ice and fallen over, it would have been his fault for not being careful, he should have known that if it cold and been snowing or raining, there likely to be ice about and you is careful.   Nowadays Stand-Up-Back-Legses are taught it Somebody Else's fault for not doing your thinking for you and not taking the slippiness away.

So it much easier to close the Park even though it spoil everybody else's fun.

Wergh.

Did you know that if you clear snow from the public footpath outside your home then you are responsible if you leave any ice and someone slips on it? From a litigation point of view, you are better off leaving the snow there as it is then the responsibility of the local authority.
It not surprise me.   Years ago there a big fire at Digital premises in Basingstoke, and the fire chief in charge decided to turn the building sprinklers off because they doing more harm than good so far as helping to control the blaze concerned.   However, Digital's insurers used this as an excuse to conning a braindead crackpot stupid idiot Judge into making the Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service liable for reimbursing the Insurers for Digital's claim - £16 million.

In those days, HFRS part of HCC so the County Council able to bail them out.   If it happened today, HFRS would go bust as they now all by themselves.

The irony is that if HFRS had never turned up to fight the fire in the first place, then they would have had no liability.

Wergh.
