Here's a belated :bday to your mate Fugger!

Well. I'm certainly willing to do my bit towards reducing it if it's made up of booze :)

There is another theory about dark matter. It could be made up of all the things that mysteriously go missing. Ballpoint pens, odd socks, CD cases and so on.

If alien races were contributing to it too then those that have dozens of legs would produce even more odd socks than we do

Patrick Moore -- I was watching The Sky at Night when I was in my early teens -- probably from the very beginning, until I left for the US. I'm amazed to learn that he's still going strong.

It was enhanced by the lovely theme music, At the Castle Gate from the incidental music to Pelleas et Melisande by Jean Sibelius. I remember writing to the Beeb to find out what it was.

My brother was in the RAF many years ago and he did a 2 year stint at the RAF Earthstation in Cyprus. Patrick Moore visited the station while he was on duty there and he met him. My brother's recollections were that Patrick was a huge man, tall as well as big around. He typified the image of a slightly scatty scientist with his hair awry and wearing a white panama suit and brogue shoes. His suit jacket was buttoned up with the buttons askew.
But he was very sharp when asking questions about the station, and was impressively quick on the uptake.
