Blessed new voice of Tom-Tom sat-nav

....the famous catchphrase from the film, "Dive, my Hawkmen, dive!", can now be heard by fans trundling along in their Ford Fiestas, re-recorded as "Drive, Hawkmen, Drive!' And when they reach their destination, instead of the "Gordon's alive!" line from the film, Blessed booms out of the car speakers: "Gordon's arrived!". Other gems from his roles in Blackadder and Henry V are scattered among the orders to turn around and keep left.

Sounds more fun than the bossy tones of our Jane, who is very steely especially at roundabouts:  "TAKE the exit - NOW!!"

I tried a couple of different voices for a while. The Queen for instance states that "One has reached one's destination." Homer Simpson says "You have reached your destination. If only life were this easy."
But I always go back to Kate. Simple and clear although she does rabbit on when you approach multiple junctions in turn. I have wondered if the voice was modeled on Kate Adie as there is some similarity, but if that was the case I would have expected her instructions to be accompanied by the rattle of machine gun fire and the occasional explosion.
