"Two Jags" is really mouthing off against the ex-Labour MPs who are advising the government. Like many of his colleagues, he still seems to be unaware of the appalling financial mess his party has left behind. Methinks he protests too much. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/politics/10360510.stm

But not, apparently, Mr Darling. I has heard that when the civil servants (the same ones wot now advise Squeaky George) gave Mr Darling options and forecasts, he usually was very conservative in his choices and generally took their advice. Also he survived an attempt by Big Gordie to replace him with Popeye Balls, and refused to put wot Big Gordie wanted in his Budgets.
So when Squeaky George was making his Mansion House speech the other day, he might have been surprised by the amount of applause which greeted his mention of Mr Darling; the City gents seemed to think he was not too bad a Chancellor: and I does wonder wot the state of the public finances might be like if friend Alistair had been Chancellor all the time instead of his predecessor.
This do not invalidate Eccs point about the financial illiteracy amongst other members of the Opposition front bench.
