I has been thinking about this on and off for a little while.   The SUBLs do a lot of wot they call singing, and different SUBLs have different types of songs.   Creature used to be wot they called at one time a Wolf Cub (now they Cub Scouts, I think) and they and the Girl Guides had a most peculiar song.   It went like this and it not about an Indian cricketer.

Ging ganguly guly guly guly wotcha!
Ging gang gu ging gang gu.
Ging ganguly guly guly guly wotcha!
Ging gang gu ging gang gu.
Heyla! Heyla Sheyla!
Heyla Sheyla! Heyla ho!
Heyla! Heyla Sheyla!
Heyla Sheyla! Heyla ho!
Hully gully hully gully hully gully hully gully
Oompah oompah oompah!

And it not just at the Wolf Cubs, either.   In his first year at Grammar School the mad music master, Mr Perkins, made them sing a song wot went like this.

Ayah ayah ayah ayah twist their tails and go!
Ayah chel chel chel chel chel chel ayah bhai chelo!
Hathi Hathi Hathi Hathi Oont and Buffalo!
Oh that's the way we sing all day as we drive the buffalo!

This does not make any sort of sense at all, and all I can say is - if they really sang like this in India no wonder they lost the Empire;  it even more surprising that they won it in the first place.

The French, on the other hand, are somewhat more sophisticated with their songs.   Here is quite a popular one.

Alouetta!  Jaunty Alouetta!
Alouetta whacks you on the head.

Does she whack me on the head?
Yes, she whacks you on the head.
Oh, my head! Oh, my head!
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Alouetta!  Jaunty Alouetta!
Alouetta whacks you on the head.

And they have another one wot do mention Food, as you might expect with the French.

Freré Jacqwes!  Freré Jacqwes!
Dormez-vous? Dormez-vous?
(not for long with all that racket)
Semolina Pudding!  Semolina Pudding!
Eat it up.  Eat it up.

The SUBLs get a lot of pleasure from singing stuff like this.   Even John Prescott gets in on the act, here wot he sang when he Deputy Prime Minister with special responsibility for Transport and Housing, wot you can see below.   He real mean in those black sunglasses wot he sent away for when he a nipper with a 5/- postal order and 10 Golliberry tokens.

Very volatile, the SUBLs.   You has to keep a watch on them all the time, wergh.

:rofl   Definitely Post of the Week  :rofl
