Well all the people in survivors were without tobacco, cannabis, cocaine etc. They had some alcohol but it was home brew and that is not very nice.
The murder rate was terrible. I hadn't realised there were so many guns available back in 1975.
The old people all gave up and died when they got a touch of the flu.
Happy Days.
Well the BBC is re making Survivors set in the modern day.
It is to be shown this autumn.
If it is no good as entertainment, we can regard it as a protect-and-survive broadcast which may yield up some handy tips for the future.
Merry. Too true the way things are going.
I shall give it a try when it comes out. It could be really good or really bad depending on how much effort that put into it.
It will be interesting to see how they update it as we are even further down the road of people who don't know how to do anything without electricity powered systems and a modern generation who have never known hardship due to cold etc and so do not know survival tips like wearing an extra jumper and heating up scraps and having a wash from a bowl assuming there is water to be found.
The Survivors 2008 starts this Sunday 23 Nov.
And I still forgot to record it. I will get it though and give it a try.
The first epidode is repeated on Thursday night if that helps.
Actually it is Friday as it is on at 1.20am.
I missed the very first bit as I mixed up 9 and 9.30 but it seems similar to the original but updated for the modern world we live in.
I do not think the remake is as good as the original but I am a grumpy old person who always thinks this.
Oh that's handy. Thanks.
I know what you mean about remakes, but I shall give it a try anyway. It might turn out to be brilliant TV

The new series has a very different feel to it. Mainly I think it's because we have changed so much from the 70's.
When they first made Survivors it was all very Science Fiction. Now, it's very much more Science Fact...
We are all so dependent on electrical devices, communication systems, hi-tech hospitals and supermarkets. When was the last time most of us actually grew something that we could eat? We had "dig for victory" during the war. But that idea has died a death over the invervening years, with gardens now the size of postage stamps and many allotments being sold off!
Science has now progressed to the point of genetic modification on a level not thought of back then. What with purple tomatoes and "designer babies", we can only guess where all this medling with nature will lead us!
