I have been watching this and have seen 12 episodes now.
The story is that a chinese man makes a virus in a glass tube and then flies to all the airports spreading the plague.
In England only 1000 people are left and life as they know it collapses.
The people who are left are pretty useless at primitive skills like farming and butchery.
Luckily they manage to steal cars and there is petrol in the garages and tinned food for a short time.
Then they start killing each other.
I don't suppose anyone remembers it, I didn't see it at the time.
I don't remember it but in 1975 I was at secretarial college (that was a waste of money as even Pani can type better than I can) and doing a barmaid job at nights (he can probably pull a pint better too
)
I've read a book a bit like it though. Whenever I think of things like that, first I think it would be really great to loot all the shops for whatever I wanted, and then I start getting really panicky about how I would manage when the chemists' stocks of my asthma inhaler ran out.
But it sounds like someone would have killed me by the time I needed to worry.
I remember a series from long ago that must have been The Survivors. Lots of scenes of ex city dwellers trying to find where the full cream tap was on a cow
I remember a scene that I'm sure was from that one. It stuck in my mind cos it was so odd. Some people turned up and one stabbed a poor defenseless cow. You were sure at once that some of the really bad people had survived.
In fact these people were real farmers. They explained that the cow had been fed too much rich food and was about to burst something inside if it wasn't allowed out.
I have no idea if that made any sense, but it wouldn't be allowed now on TV for fear of upsetting someone.
pani .. that was all creatures great and small!
not a 1970's arma geddon type story of country folk..
They were always persecuting cows.. if you want to b e frightened , go watch the DVD of the nightmare man..
It has a young Celia imrie in it ...too.
Survivors I wasnt allowed to watch! SoI just saw the theme tune & credits..
I was totally scared by kids tv.. "the changes" series was amazing.......
judging by her videos so was Kate Bush
Possibly was, uffington. it's been a while now and I don't recall much of the 70s anyway. A lot was happening then and much of it involved large quantities of beer (or cider for cheapness)

I am up to Series 2 now and the one with the stabbed cows is in it.
They had clover bloat and the knife man was not a real farmer he had a degree in agriculture.
Ah thanks, Furby. I'm pleased that turned out to be that after all.
It was the Magic Roundabout and the cow was Ermintrude.
Ecc Sometimes I worry for you!
But mainly I am just Awe struck and grateful!
Don't worry Uff. I can honestly say that I have never sniffed, smoked, or otherwise imbibed any illegal substance, so my mental state is quite as nature intended (notwithstanding occasional amounts of alcohol). Or as Popeye once said: " I yam what I yam."
