Wow!
Drama, special effects, excitement, laughter, tension, and sadness - great poignancy - a grandiose sense of something large and important and full of doom - a real rollercoaster ride.
Loved Bernard Cribbins and DT in this.
Nice to have some flashes to tie up loose ends: the farewells to Martha, Capt Jack, Sarah-Jane - and most of all the visit to the library (?) to check that John Smith's wife had had a happy life.
The Ood: 'the Universe will sing you to sleep' - a hark-back to Hamlet (whom we had to watch die on Boxing Day! a traumatic Xmas) - 'flights of angels sing thee to thy rest' - ?
As this most astonishing and notable Doctor went out in a blaze of glory and despair, I am sure a nation has never resented a perfectly innocent man more as Matt Thingy appeared - and yet... I manged through my tears, most unexpectedly to find something about him rather endearing - ?
I like his odd face
Yes and I thought he handled that first scene very well - being that he must have been aware we were all thinking sniffily 'well how can he follow DT?"
Maybe it will all be ok. After all I hated DT for ooohh at least half a season - didn't like the manic style and the pinstripe suits with trainers.
