Only just caught up with this. Hardly light viewing, it had a deep, weighty feel to it with matters of mortal importance lurking underneath. Still a few moments of Who-humour to leaven the ominous doom - the joke about QE1's now-defunct nickname was naughty
Bernard Cribbins was terrific, as was Donna - reminded me how very much I liked her as the Doc's companion - funny, brave, gutsy and very human.
Could have done without the Master shooting randomly up into the air - very silly indeed - and not sure I understand the plot, but all in all not bad at all (would be better still with some Cybermen or Daleks thrown in.)
There will be a few sad faces around during Part 2 I'm sure. DT's wonderful doctor is going to be a very hard act to follow - but then I said the same about Christopher Ecclestone - and his successor turned out ok didn't he
It will be interesting to find out how the Time Lords have managed to hide away undetected, and whether they have turned bad. I thought Timothy Dalton didn't look at all friendly.
They going to be a bit cross if they didn't know Gallifrey a load of rocks and dust now.
Something I noticed - Donna's new surname. "So her name will be Noble-Temple?" "No, Temple-Noble."
Temps - Time in French (or, erm, weather).
Noble - a Lord/Lady.
I reckon she'll turn out to be a secret weather lady
.
Donna and Wilf didn't turn into the Master though like everyone else though, so it would make sense if Wilf was a secret timelord and Donna was 1/4 timelord. I know how much RTD likes anagrams too so I've been trying to work this one out. "Wilfred Mott" is either Timelord FTW or Timelord WTF. Knowing RTD it could go either way really.
Xoco - I like it
It was good and I'm looking forward to part 2.
I've been wondering about Wilf too and been trying to think of what he could be. Perhaps the Master himself when much older, but without his memories? Like the Doctor when he was John Smith for a time.
Xoco, I think you must be right with the anagrams. Mott seems an odd name if just a random choice
Just realised that they have used my plot idea before so perhaps not.
