After countless hours, mucho payout, and many million more parental grey hairs, Jay is finally due to take her driving test early in September.  (Note, I don not say 'ready'  :rolleyes )

Her driving instructor (the third - she sees them off at quite a rate) has suggested she takes Rescue Remedy before the test, as he has witnessed for himself Jay's weak-kneed, scramble-brained terror at the thought of a test.  He says 'everyone takes it' before their tests.

Anyone know anything about Rescue Remedy?  I'm assuming it's some airy-fairy hippie herbal thing which costs a packet and much beloved of sandal-wearing tree-huggers, in which case it won't do any good at all (apart from possibly some placebo effect) - or maybe it's a bit like the herbal tranquillisers I used to take from time to time, which used to make me feel like my head was packed with cotton-wool, which doesn't sound like a good idea either on a driving test.

I don't actually know for sure, but I think Rescue Remedy (TM, copyright whatever etc. :) )  is a homeopathic thing, so placebo effect only. I know some people who give it to their dog before Guy Fawkes, and they swear it makes said dog less nervous when fireworks are going off. :huh

It's made for people, though, AFAIK. Just that they swear the dog likes it too :D

PS I quite forgot to say the most important thing - Good Luck to Jay for her test!!!!!!!!!! :thumbs  :thumbs  :thumbs  :thumbs  :thumbs  :hug
Good Luck to Jay.

I sympathise as I took 10 tests and should never have been allowed near a car.

The best remedy is to say "I will pass the next test and treat this one as a rehearsal"

It's too much like school exams where you do a countdown to the day of the test/exam getting more worried each day and then someone says "the next hour will decide your entire future so relax and do your best!" :lol no pressure.

GOOD LUCK JAY

Hmm, I'm not sure I would advise Jay to drink and drive, particularly when taking a driving test.
BTW, I failed my first test, probably not helped when everyone said "If you get so and so, he's a real horror." Guess who I got?

:rofl  at the 'mother tincture' which does indeed seem to be a triple brandy by any other name.  I bought some this morning so had better check the bottle before we risk it.  Jay is practically Methodist in her teetotalhood so even a tiny amount could sozzle her completely  :rolleyes

Furby did you really take ten tests.  This is not what I wanted to hear, though Jay found it soothing!

Thanks for your good wishes, Helio, Pani, Eccs, Furbs and I'll let you know how it goes (stay off the roads on Sept 6th!)

Actually it was eleven tests.
I am still here telling the tale though.

On the first test I stalled the engine at a busy junction and there were tailbacks of traffic for miles because of me.

On the third test I drove on the pavement (by mistake) and the inspector used the dual control pedals and they really really shouldn't do that. I should have sued. It is their jobs to be killed by being driven into lampposts.

I wasn't overly nervous any more than the usual furby nerousness, I am just a rubbish driver.

Perhaps Merry could try the stuff herself first unless she is a methodist too.

I think that was the funniest paragraph I ever read on HF.   :rofl  :rofl  :rofl

Poor Furbs.   I am a Methodist or very close to it but it is a teeny bottle and costs as much as  a 100 year old Malt Scotch so don't want to waste it.   Will maybe try giving Jay a test dose before she goes off for a ride, as being DIC of a pony is not so dangerous and Clyde knows his way home.

3 drops on her tongue or in a small glass of water isn't going to make her drunk merry. rescue is a mighty powerful placebo medicine though and works on plants.... for given values of works of course.

Ron.
