I thought we had had this topic last time it was mentioned  by our intrepid leader the first lord of the treasury but I can't find the thread now.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7968734.stm

My first reaction is "adminstrative nightmare" and when I read and think further I wonder about trivial details such as

The success of the programme will depend on encouraging those people with unhealthy lifestyles who traditionally shun health services to come forward.

I am really looking forward to finding out my height weight and age now, this is so exciting isn't it?

I already get these invitations, but I treat them as the junk mail they really are.

Anyway what goes would it do to be told "well Mr Jones, you are indeed in bad shape. You need three kinds of treatment urgently. Two are not allowed on the NHS and the other has a 12 year waiting list as private patients from overseas have priority access to the equipment"

Next week will also see the launch of MRSA screening in hospitals for most patients undergoing non-emergency surgery

So next week they willl begin doing  MRSA screening for  non-emergency patients and even then not on everyone. Avoiding the pointless death of people who walk in reasonably healthy is still not a priority then? and they want us to have MORE contact with health professionals?

I haven't had my invite yet.

Am I being too impatient?

I've had two invites this month because it's my birthday.  But I don't plan to  go and I didn't last year either.

Mr Merry always goes for his though like a good chap. He takes whatever test they tell him he needs and then obediently swallows the drugs they say will fix the problem he didn't know he had.

We'll have to see who lasts longest  :lol  and then you'll know which approach to follow.

So , shall I take the bad arm as a warning that I should choose the "go for my health checks" approach.
:lol

I nearly had to give in and go to have the bad arm looked at but would have needed to say 'and don't start poking at any other bits, I'm not giving my permission for those.'

OOps! sorry to read here about your bad arm merry, what was the cause of it? (just your version will do nicely for me so don't worry about seeing the doc as I don't go either - much! )
I recently went to the doctors for treatment and he sent me for multiple tests for a problem I didn't go in for.  I had the results back that I was "all clear' for something I didn't have in the 1st place.     How cool is that.

Sorry to hear about your arm Merry; glad it's getting better.

Well three months on and  I still haven't had a health check invite.
Nr Merry has gone for his today.  He was eager and dressed up for it. Got ready at 9am for his 5pm appointment  :lol

:rofl  Perdita  :rofl
