Just had a nightmare experience at Gatwick as we were trying to fly to Barcelona yesterday to meet my brother and family! Arrived in good time (2.15) for a 4.40 flight to find a huge queue of people trying to check in. I decided to buy speedy boarding at a snip £19 which enabled us to drop our bags and go through to duty free. Except computers went down (across Europe we found out hours later) and we stood in line for 3.5 hours as we were manually booked in.
Then we grabbed a McDonalds and rushed to the boarding gate to meet another queue (my speedy boarding should have worked here, alas we got the last two seats on the aircraft) sat on the tarmac for 2.5 hrs (longer than the flight to Barcelona) to finally be told we are not flying but to rebook on line. slight problem as I didn't have my laptop with me at the time!
I HATE EasyJet it is impossible to talk to anyone they are faceless people behind an email! Lots of people were having to contend with major problems as a result of their ineptitude at managing a crisis!
There that feels better! DON'T fly EasyJet!

Have you missed out on seeing your brother now?  :( And a holiday as well. How disasppointing.  :cry

I don't move in flying circles but one of the things that scares me about dealing with things on line in general is that if anything goes wrong you can't do anything except pay up and accept having nothing.  :bang

Relatives of mine had to wait overnight in the airport and then pay 300.00 extra as they had been booked on the 6.30am plane not the 6.30pm one as they believed so missed their flight. Flying is evil.

Do airports have cybercafes now? If not this would be a good idea if they are telling people to rebook online.

Poor Chrissie!  I forgot you were going to meet your brother too as well as missing the holdiay  :hug

Cybercafes sound a good idea at airports.  I can imagine Chrissie there for some of the seven hours, checking her Farm to see if her strawberries were up ...   :lol

It sounds awful! I know they are cheap and this means lots of people get to make trips (or make trips more often) than otherwise. Still the worry of whether it was going to go wrong this time would spoil it for me even when it didn't.

I hope you get to make the trip another time, Chrissie.
