Can anyone tell me what these flowers are?

I had a bag of seeds with no label. I knew they were flowers but no idea what.  They are really pretty as you can see, but they don't last long.  The flowers come out around 10am and by 3pm they have completely died and the next lot are preparing to open for the next day.  The leaves are strange too, I've never seen anything like it.

Isis

I don't know much about types of flowers.

But in this case, I suspect that an alien spaceship has dropped the seeds and you should take care because if anyone finds out you and they will be in a plastic tunnel.

Sorry but Ive got no idea really Isis but they look very pretty :)
My first thought was that they have 'rose' in the name somewhere... not an actual rose, probably.. I will have a think to see if it comes to me.

Very lovely, whatever they are! We have some beautiful pictures on the board right now, thanks to our members

Portulaca.

I love them but can't grow them because they insist on full sun, not the partial that's all I can offer.

Once you've got them they will self-seed generously.

I never saw them in England.

Oddly, wallflowers are unusual here, at least in NYC. I buy seeds in England and they do quite well, often surviving a couple of winters. Thompson & Morgan's American catalog offers them but the price is high especially with shipping. One vendor in the greenmarket sometimes has a few plants and I've seen a handful in the Brooklyn Botanic's fragrance garden, but that's about it.

Just remembered, I've seen them labeled as moss rose too (a bit confusing, that!).

And I think you can get a new variety that stays open all day. But since I can't grow them I've rather lost track.

Thank you Hagsrus for identifying the flowers.  I didn't realise they were climbing, so that would explain the weird way they are growing all over the place, poor things. :lol   I have them in a tub right now, I'll have to move it to the fence so they can start to climb it.

These ones must be the extra common variety because they weren't very expensive.  I think I paid about $3 at Walmart [Denver].

Oy vay already... :D
I know they sprawl but I've never seen any that show inclination to climb.

Awaiting developments with interest!

Very interesting anyway and well done Hagsrus for the identification! I had a look on the internet for them (easy now I know the name!) and found this -
