Why not just wait for it to rain, it always chucks it down eventually doesn't it.
By which time the garden is a dust bowl. I have a hosepipe somewhere but haven't used it for at least five years. I water the dwarf variety buddliea that my mother bought me and a pot with some purple flowers that I grew from seed, and the rest has to look after itself.
My car, a 1994 Corsa that I have had for 12 years, might benefit from a hose down except it is currently being offered to Natural England as the only potential mobile SSSI in existence, having rare lichens and mosses growing from it. Having said that, it is serviced regularly and goes well, averaging around 40 MPG.
