Fortunately I don't have a garden as such so am luckier than most.

I have bought some weedkiller for the path and it says "Do not use if it is going to rain in 6 hours". So not designed for England is it then? Even if the sun is cracking the flags it still might rain in 6 hours.

Anyway there should be an easier way to get rid of the things, I liked the idea of a flame thrower thing but couldn't see any in Morrisons.

Mr M does a lot of weedkilling,  I can never get the hang of it, all I know is that when I trot off to the shelves and bring him back weedkiller just like he commanded me to fetch, he is never happy and says he wanted systemic, unless I brought systemic of course, in which case he didn't want systemic.
Not sure, but I think they might mean if it rains it will run off and kill your flowers round the edge. Not such a problem if you don't have any I suppose.

Poor Merry. I have a plan. Buy BOTH and say 'oh what kind was it again?" so you can produce the correct one (keep the other for the next bout of weedkilling)

Pani is a genius. :)

The bottle I have appears to be not systemic on the grounds of it not mentioning it is systemic whatever that is.

It is called Path Weedkiller and only needs to be kept away from rain for one hour unlike the more expensive bottle that wanted 6 hours. But when I read the small print it says do not use on concrete tarmac or paved areas (it is meant for gravel drives apparantly) . I had already used it by the time I noticed that.  :(

Wow!  It must be pretty powerful if it destroys tarmac!  :lol   You could remarket it with a new image 'Save on hiring expensive diggers! Blast your unwanted paths with New, Improved, Tarmac Terminator!'

It is obviously a tricky business as searching for a definition of systemic weedkiller I came across this doleful warning:

If there is one area that the gardening trade could improve their 'customer friendliness' then it has to be the proper explanation and provision of weedkillers.

The Gardenseeker mailbox is frequently 'visited' by someone who has just killed off most of their garden or lawn, with either the wrong choice of weedkiller or the wrong application.

:(

Well the weeds are still alive today so it is not that powerful.
Furby weeds are made of sterner stuff!
I'm imagining the tarmac bubbling and dissolving while a little weed stands there unharmed and smug.

(and little weeds can look smug. I used to watch Bill & Ben so I know these things)

I am going to try and make my own with bleach and salt.
I'm imagining the tarmac bubbling and dissolving while a little weed stands there unharmed and smug.

:rofl
