Being soldiers, we do okay as military leaders of the secluded tribe we join. But eventually the wealth and power take a toll on us. Me best mate loses his head over a beautiful but superstitious virgin. I finish as a blind beggar, but with a ripping good yarn to spin.

I was the one who - no, the person you're thinking of is actually my grandfather, except you've got him mixed up with my great uncle, not to be confused with either of my sons, of course, or any of our cousins. You may possibly have mistaken what my grandmother did for what happened to my niece or my great niece and of course not forgetting my aunt. It all makes perfect sense to us, and to you too. The family is here many years ago and has been here tomorrow and will be here possibly since the days of the conquistadors, all at once.

Cloo the second: This is (or was, or possibly will be) a specifically long time .... All Alone. Isolated (and in-bred too, come to that) and Alone.
If nobody likes cloo the second, I'll say exactly how many years that long time is (or was or will be).
