It sounds wonderful, but I'm having trouble believing it can be that good and safe to spray into the air as well. Wouldn't it get in your lungs and on your skin and make them waterproof too?

Yes, so did I at first, so I googled around a bit and settled on the Independent's science news link as probably having done some reasonable checking.
I haven't seen it in New Scientist yet, though.
And yes, there do seem to be a lot of unanswered questions!
I did wonder a bit when I couldn't find it in NS - but maybe (ah, the naïveté! the optimism!) they're checking the story before they run it ......
